PearlDiver Expertise Broadening the Orthopaedic Horizon

Work of Analysts Featured in a Variety of Informational Venues

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (April 20, 2009) – While the majority of their time is spent mining the company’s industry-best database in connection with client company consulting contracts, PearlDiver Technologies’ team of in-house analysts also produce work featured outside of the organization. Such is the case with a few recent items from Spine Products and Markets Analyst Matt Menze and Extremity Reconstruction Products and Markets Analyst Dev Joshi.

Akron, Ohio-based SpineMatrix, Inc. has included Menze’s article entitled “Decoding Lower Back Pain” in the News and Events section of the company’s web site at www.spinematrix.com. The article delves into the historic difficulties of diagnosing the exact source of lower back pain and promising new technology that could improve the accuracy of diagnoses going forward.

In its recent equity research report on Wright Medical, BMO Capital Markets Corp. (www.bmo.com) included Joshi’s information on the overall extremities market and an analysis of market share across the industry.

Joshi also authored the article “Little Toes, Big Pains” that featured an interview with Dr. Steven L. Haddad, Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University. That article can now be found in the AOFAS Members in the News section of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society web site (www.aofas.org).

Joshi penned the article after mining the data found in PearlDiver’s database of orthopaedic records – believed to be the largest, fully HIPAA-compliant, publicly available and searchable database in the country at over 136 million records across nearly 8 million unique patients. “The article focused on three common toe deformities and how they are related,” said Joshi. “This piece demonstrates the strength of our unique set of tools for surgeons, health care administrators, practice managers, manufacturers and others.”
